The Toronto 2015 Pan Am games has kicked off with a bang with the Canada team jumping into a healthy lead in the medal standings. But the big winner has to be the organization of these games, proving that Toronto and the GTA can host such a massive event.
And those events rely on volunteers. The Toronto 2015 Pan Am games has 23,000+ volunteers, providing support in almost every way imaginable.
Unity Connected Solutions loves to support our community. One of our own, Brad Lagasse, an Account Manager, is volunteering as a Press Operations Supervisor at the Ajax facility where the baseball games are being held.
As you can imagine there is a fair bit of technology behind these games keeping them connected. The Events are spread out over 32 venues in communities across the Greater Toronto Area – as far west as Hamilton and east to Oshawa, and as far South as St. Catharines and as far north Minden.
With the expectation of immediate updates on information regarding the outcome of each game or event, communications technology that acts seamlessly across such a vast area is a necessity. And it relies on Voice over IP (VoIP) technology that we have talked about before in this Blog.
A big thanks to the volunteers who will make this event tick.
